Really Famous

with Kara Mayer Robinson

Famous people get real.

Thumbs Up for Time's Up

I'm not usually an awards show fan. It all seems so superficial and fake.

But last night I was rapt by the Golden Globes. Rapt!

Why? Because of the phenomenal women and their fierce commitment to shifting the imbalance of power in Hollywood and beyond.

On the red carpet alone, I was super impressed by tell-it-like-it-is comments by Debra Messing, Sarah Jessica Parker, Viola Davis and more. (Check out this great piece by Inkoo Kang in The Hollywood Reporter. It says it all.)

Many women brought activists as their plus-ones, like Emma Watson (activist Marai Larasi), Michelle Williams (#MeToo founder Tarana Burke) and Meryl Streep (Ai-Jen Poo, director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance). Fabulous!

When the doors closed and the show started, the vibe continued. So many women stood up and spoke their truth. Like Natalie Portman, Frances McDormand and of course, Oprah.

And hat's off to acknowledging the stellar TV series, films and roles by women -- like Big Little Lies, The Handmaid's Tale and Lady Bird.

To Time's Up and all the women who created, developed and support it, brava!
